Fairytale Courtroom

Performances: May 9-11

Cumston Hall

This extremely adaptable comedy shows the other side of several familiar fairy tales, when two of their biggest villains, the Big Bad Wolf and the Wicked Witch, are brought to trial. Both the Wolf and the Witch have been frolicking from fairy tale to fairy tale, wreaking havoc as they try to prevent the general public from living happily ever after. Hear the personal accounts of what happened, told in testimonies and flashback sequences, from characters such as Snow White, Dorothy, Sleeping Beauty, the Three Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and many others, including the Witch and the Wolf themselves, as each trial unfolds. The audience is the jury, so each trial has two endings, depending on the verdict.

Newsies Jr

July 11-13

Location TBD

Disney's Newsies JR. is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film. Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies JR. features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.

When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right.

Including the now-classic songs "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," and "Santa Fe," Newsies JR. is a timeless story full of spirit and heart.

Snow White and the Seven Endings

August 8-10

Location TBD

Happily-ever-after gets turned on its head in this comedic retelling of Snow White’s classic princess fairy tale.  When the seven forest dwellers reminisce about their recent run-in with a royal run-away, they each have a different take on how the story unfolds and who the real hero is.  But which is the real ending?  The only thing they agree about is that the Prince shouldn’t get the credit!

Laughter abounds as each of the seven forest dwellers takes their turn sharing their recollection of what happened to Snow White once she came to their cottage.  Which will be your favorite?  The mysterious ”And Then There Were Seven,” the melodramatic ”Perilous Plight of Miss Snow White,” or the slapstick ”Snow Alone — Lost in the Woods”?  Naturally, everyone loves the action-adventure ”Spindiana Jones and the Apple of Doom!”  There’s also the Shakespearean ”Mid-Snow White’s Dream” and the hysterical interpretive dance, ”The Hunt-Cracker,” along with the classic retelling. This show is a non-musical show, being produced with permission from Pioneer Drama Service Inc.
